The Prince's Foundation is enjoying an action packed summer so far, June's highlight was the unveiling of The Prince’s House at the Building Research Establishment in Watford by Housing Minister, Grant Shapps who praised the project by saying that “the Prince's Foundation has proved that Great British design doesn't need to be sacrificed to make our homes zero carbon”. At the beginning of the month members enjoyed a fantastic tour of the gardens at Highgrove and next week sees the start of the residential summer school in Wales.

Hungarian Architects Join Summer School

After the Prince of Wales’s visit to Hungary in 2010, and a subsequent discussion at Pécel with British and Hungarian experts on cultural heritage preservation, a new association began between Hungary and The Prince’s Foundation which has resulted in the placement of two young Hungarian Architects - read more here.

Eco Rally

Eco-Rally to the Prince's House!

The annual Eco-Rally is the original Brighton to London Future Car Run and has big plans for 2011 - Their fifth anniversary! This year the Eco -Rally will be making a pit stop at the Prince’s House in Watford. There are lots of opportunities to see the vehicles and celebrity drivers at various famous locations, plus all-day interactive exhibitions. Read more here.




The Prince’s Foundation is located in a converted Victorian warehouse in Shoreditch which provides a unique centre for the Foundation’s work across the United Kingdom.  As well as offices, facilities include studios, workshops, a drawing school, library event spaces and The Gallery. 50 Years of London Architecture Exhibition - 21st July - 1 September 2011

By popular demand The Architecture Club  is reprising the very successful 50 Years of London Architecture exhibition. It will occupy the vast and extraordinary Ambika P3 space beneath the University of Westminster.

Technical Lecture – open to members - Tuesday 26th July, 18:00 – 19:30
Urbanist Andrés Duany will be explaining his theory for integrating agriculture into every aspect of a community. If you would like to attend this event, please contact Marie Hartley at by Friday 22nd July. As places are limited, please book early!

Garden Cities Book Launch - Thursday 28th July
The Prince’s Foundation will be launching its latest publication 'Garden Cities' by renowned US Masterplanner and Urbanist, Andres Duany, the fifth in its series of Senior Fellow Books. This event will take place at Lancaster House gardens during the START festival .
This event marks the start of The Prince's Foundation's own campaign to encourage food growing in cities. Our new ambassador, garden designer and TV personality Diarmuid Gavin, will be present to host this event and share his perspective on this very important new strand of our mission.

Garden Cities: Theory & Practice of Agrarian Urbanism details a type of community plan and management that enables a comprehensive interaction of agriculture with modern society. It will be available to purchase from Friday 29th July. Please contact Carla Marchesan at £15.00 plus delivery.

THE FOUNDATION RESIDENTIAL SUMMER SCHOOL - The Culture of Building - Starts next week!
A three-week programme including lectures, workshops, drawing, building exercises and field trips aimed at developing an in-depth knowledge both of traditional building and repair techniques and how these have been, and can be, applied in the twenty-first century.  The 2011 Summer School will run from 18th July – 5th August and will cost £2,750.
