Sponsorship funding helps the Prince’s Foundation create a sustainable future for East Ayrshire towns
3 April 2009 – Press Release
A grant of £20,000 from Cumnock and Doon Valley Minerals Trust has helped ensure that The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment can come to Cumnock at the end of this month to create designs for the revitalization of four East Ayrshire Towns.
At the invitation of East Ayrshire Council, The Prince’s Foundation will work for five days alongside local communities and involved stakeholders from Cumnock, New Cumnock, Auchinleck and Mauchline. It will use its “Enquiry by Design” public consultation process which was so successful in creating a vision for the new neighbourhood to be built at Knockroon.
Hank Dittmar, Chief Executive of The Prince’s Foundation comments: “We are extremely grateful to the Mineral Trust for its investment in the future of these four town centres. We also applaud the vision of East Ayrshire Council who, rather than looking at each town centre individually, understand that the four neighbourhoods impact on each other as part of a wider region. By taking a holistic view, we will be able to provision for a much wider range of needs – from transport and employment to safety, health and food security. And that will help ensure a more sustainable future for this important area of East Ayrshire.”
Dates for the Enquiry by Design workshop will be announced shortly.
