Designed to a masterplan by Leon Krier, Poundbury is being developed by the Duchy of Cornwall. Of the total area of approximately 154ha, 101ha will be a series of compact mixed-use neighbourhoods, with the remainder comprising of open space and landscaping. Over twenty different architects have designed buildings at Poundbury, which has grown to be a true community, commended as a model of new growth by the Deputy Prime Minister, the House of Commons Select Committee and others.
